    Engro Intern Systems

    The project started out with the need of automating a major task in the hands of HR department i.e the management of interns itself.

    Traditional Workflow

    • Intern records were maintained in excel spreadsheets
    • Induction forms, certificates and other documents were generated manually and then printed

    Need For Automation

    For a company dealing with large scale processes day in day out, the HR has a lot to serve. Handling repeated tasks was affecting the department’s ability to perform fully in more creative avenues.

    Branding

    Sitting down with the HR manager and discussing problems of the department and hours of brainstorming opened up new possibilities and it was discovered that not just intern management but a lot of other processes could be automated. This was the actual inception of Engro Systems with ‘Engro Systems Interns’ being the flagship product and further recruitment of interns for more automation projects under the umbrella of Engro Systems.

    Product Development

    Moving the intern records out from the spreadsheets and into a relational database made it possible to add further features. Main features of the application include following

    • Listing, searching and filtering of interns based on various criteria
    • Various user access levels depending on employee’s responsibilities
    • Various levels of email and SMS based notifications based on schedules
    • Auto generation of documents as per schedules

    House of Habib Leave Management Portal

    About House of Habib

    House of Habib is a Pakistani conglomerate company based in Karachi, Pakistan. The company was started in 19th century and owns a lot of other businesses in Pakistan and internationally including Indus Motors Company, Habib Insurance Company Limited, Inclusive Energy Limited, etc.

    Traditional workflow

    Employees of the House of Habib have designated leaves that can be availed and can also be encashed, according to the company’s policy.

    • Leave or encashment applied on a paper form
    • Application is responded by respective boss/supervisor, HR, and in case of encashment also by finance department
    • Remaining leaves calculation and bookkeeping, if approved, is done by HR and maintained for every employee

    Need for automation

    In the house of Habib, these processes were manually handled, and applications were submitted on a piece of paper sent to the upper hierarchy for a response. This long and time-consuming process made it difficult for employees to apply for leaves or encashment, track their remaining leaves, check encashable leave balance, etc.

    Possible solutions

    House of Habib would have solved this problem by creating a helpline and hiring an individual whose work would only be to take requests for leaves application or leaves encashment by employees on a phone call and perform necessary bookkeeping, also provide required information to employees regarding their leave profiles, asks for approvals from upper hierarchy, etc. This solution involved investment to hire the resource yet the position doesn’t give any ROI.

    After series of discussions with HR, Quanrio proposed a customized solution of an automated Leave Management Portal incorporating the company’s policies for employees leave application and leave encashment.

    Product development

    Reducing manual work and time taking internal processes, the left portal made leaves application convenient for the busy HR and employees. The main features of the portal include

    • Apply for leaves and/or encashment
    • Track leave application status
    • Check leaves’ balance that could be encashed
    • Respond to requests received by subordinates for approval
    • Receive email reminders of requests waiting for response
    • Maintain application history, and also can export to a spreadsheet
    • Bulk upload of employees list and their application history
    • Generation of documents according to request and its response

    This portal made leave management remotely available to every employee and helped keep track of leaves related information. Whenever an employee applies for leave or encashment, the request goes directly to the supervisor for a response (approval/disapproval) and then to the upper hierarchy providing a response right away. The employee is notified about the final decision on the application by an email notification system incorporated in the portal.

    About Investor Lounge

    Investors Lounge is a Pakistani company that empowers investors with the education and information required to make profitable investing decisions. They gather information from the internet regarding every investment field, that could include real estate, education, lifestyle etc. and assist in making educated investment decisions.     They needed a tool that could gather intended information from provided sources on timely basis, categorize the information, and format data in order to display on their platform.

    Branding and product development

    Quanrio joined heads with founders of investor lounge and after hours of research and brainstorming, Quanrio put forward a tool named Tigrosa, named after a genius spider, crawling all over the interne t and gathering required data. Tigrosa is meant to do the job Investors Lounge was looking for with 99.99% efficiency. It takes input resources collect desired data provided multiple verticals, transform it, and store it for use. Tigrosa comprises of scripts developed for data collection, transformation and storage according to custom individual preferences

    About Pakistan Navy

    The Pakistan Navy needs no introduction, it is the naval warfare uniform service branch of the Pakistan Armed Forces.

    Tradition workflow

    Pakistan Navy personnel always witness blood donors and acceptors on regular basis due to the nature of their business. Usual flow of blood donors and acceptors is as follows,

    • Donor contacts the designated hospital and wait for an acceptor to ask the hospital for blood
    • If the hospital is short of a particular blood type, the flow messages in the community to search for a donor with the required blood type
    • Blood acceptors go to the hospital and see if a particular blood type is available

    Need For Automation

    Due to the nature of business, navy personnel can not reach hospital to search for donors or acceptors. They need a system through which they can easily either notify for the availability of their blood to be donation and the acceptors need a platform through which they can search for donor of a particular blood type from anywhere.

    Product development

    Reducing the time in connecting blood donors and acceptors, Quanrio built a cloud solution where donors can register by providing relevant information and wait for an acceptor to reach out to them

    • Register on the portal providing required information about themselves and their blood
    • Acceptors can search for donors according to the required blood type
    • The portal is integrated with the internal system of Pakistan Navy in order for acceptors to view the medical history of a donor
    • Acceptors can search for donors according to the required blood type
    • Acceptors can directly contact the donors and complete the donation process
    • Generate a waiting list for the requirement of blood type

    This portal made blood donation management remotely available to every navy personnel, and helped keep track of medical history of a donor.
